  • Kriya Yoga Information Session
    7:30 pm-9:00 pm
    02/03/17

Kriya Yoga is an ancient method of living and meditation that cultivates body, mind, intellect, and awareness of the soul using powerful meditative and yogic disciplines. It helps us to experience the three divine qualities of light, vibration, and sound by using techniques of concentration, posture, and breathing. This develops a one-pointed mind, which enables us to penetrate the deepest levels of consciousness and to change our lives. Kriya Yoga teaches that any action, kri, is done by ya, the indwelling soul. It is a universal spiritual discipline that crosses all divisions and boundaries.
As brought to the United States by Paramahansa Hariharananda, disciple of Swami Shriyukteswarji, and contemporary of Paramahansa Yoganandaji, the author of Autobiography of a Yogi and older brother of Bishnu Charan Ghosh.
This public lecture will be led by Swami Chidrupananda and Yogacharya Srinidhi Baba.

  • Charles MacInerney Weekend Workshop
    12:00 pm-3:00 pm
    02/25/17

    Day 1

    Core Power
    12:00 noon – 3:00 pm

Very few students in Yoga understand and appreciate the power of their core. In this workshop you will develop greater awareness, control and strength in your core. You’ll learn to use a variety of core techniques, including zipping, cinching, and mula bandha to transform your asana practice.
You will learn how to initiate movement from the core, which helps prevent joint damage like bursitis and tendonitis; experience how proper use of the core stabilizes your standing poses, protects the lower back in back bends, and energizes your forward bends.
We will also explore subtle core engagement as a meditative technique to help shift your center from the head to the abdomen, anchoring your consciousness in your creative center.
    Charles MacInerney Weekend Workshop Pricing:

    One Day $60/50 early-bird
    Two Days $110/$90 early-bird

    **early-bird pricing ends 2/4/17**

    Day 2

Mastering Balance in Yoga and Life
    12:00 noon – 3:00 pm

Good balance allows for grace and control when moving, and for relaxation when still.  It promotes a sense of well-being, and improves self-image.  Improving balance strengthens the student’s ability to concentrate, and lengthens their attention span.
You will recreate the movements that infants use to learn the balancing skills used throughout life, then practice internal ‘sensing’ techniques, enhance concentration, ‘lower’ your center of gravity, and bring a feeling of stillness into the balancing poses.
Above all, you will learn how to enjoy balancing and equally important, learn how to enjoy falling!
Finally, a series of poses will be learned, starting with the easiest balancing positions, like standing, and gradually increasing in difficulty to challenge even the most advanced student.  The workshop will close with an exploration of how lessons learned in physical balance can be applied to find balance in the larger arenas of life, including relationships, business, wellness and others.
